NYC Trip!

Friday I got to sleep late and then head to the airport. I went straight to hotel to meet my friend.

We went to dinner at 44 Restaurant, fabulous meal. We started appetizers: seared Ahi Tuna and pumpkin ravioli (separate dishes). We had a bottle of pinot noir. My entree was lobster mashed potatoes with crunchy proscitto and scallops on top with basil sauce for dipping. SO good. Then we went to a couple other places for a few drinks. It snowed on Friday night. BIG ole fluffy snowflakes. SO PRETTY.

Saturday we got up early, grabbed a Starbucks and headed to The Plaza, where we caught our Sex And The City tour. It took us all over the city, and showed us all the hot spots where they filmed the show. Very fun.

After walking down 5th Ave. and doing all the shopping we could do; we went to the subway (which is always real scary) so we could hit Canal Street. We got there with no problems, and I got my "Chanel" sunglasses. When we got back to the subway we stood there for 30 mins waiting for a train (but we were in the wrong place) so obviously it never came! So then we found where we should be and had to wait again. But we finally made it back to Grand Central Station and back to our hotel. At that point we crashed for a much needed nap. We had dinner reservations at Country, it was awesome! http://www.countryinnewyork.com/menus.html Food was great. Our reservation was for 9:30 and we didn't get seated till almost 11pm, but it was still very fun. We just talked and talked and then had coffee after our fab-o meal and didn't leave till almost 1am! The meal included: Parmesan cheese puffs with bacon and complementary Chardonnay since they were so late with our reservations. My meal consisted of Pasta with tomatoes fondue, black truffells, parmesan cheese and pine nuts. And on the side potatoes au gratin with blue cheese and escargot butter. It really was one of the richest and most wonderful side dishes I've ever head. Of course served with crusty bread to go with!

Sunday we got up, checked out and headed for Time Square.

We had lunch at the Brooklyn Diner, I had a chicken club with bacon, Russian dressing and gorgonzola cheese. I read in my OK magazine on the plane ride home that Kelly Clarkson had been there just last week! Too bad we missed her. Then we did some more looking and shopping. After that we headed back to the hotel to get our stuff and go to the airport. Lindsi flew American and I flew Delta, so we were in COMPLETE opposite terminals at complete opposite ends. My flight was delayed and I didn't get to the airport in Austin till almost 12am and then OF COURSE my luggage didn't make it on the plane. So by the time I messed with all that crap and got home it was close to 2am before I got to sleep.

It was after 10pm, before I got my stuff back. Note to self DON'T FLY DELTA, and if you do carry on your luggage. My trip was great, but the airport part was terrible. What a weekend.
